What it means for leaders

About one in four US businesses now uses AI to produce goods or services, and in information, finance and professional services the share is closer to one in two. If your sector is above the national line, competitors are already in production.

What would change the reading: A fall in two consecutive rounds, or a widening gap between sectors.

Caveats

  • The survey asks about use in production of goods or services, so internal use such as drafting email may not count.
  • Sector figures come from smaller samples and move more from one survey round to the next.
